The Disrupt Explicit Forged Images and Non-Consensual Edits Act of 2024, or the "Defiance Act," spearheaded by senators including Dick Durbin and Lindsey Graham, aims to empower victims of such "digital forgeries" to seek civil penalties against perpetrators. This legislative move underscores the growing concern over "deepfakes" and the urgency of establishing legal measures to mitigate their spread and impact.
